Fall Vegetable Garden Workshop

Plant the Florida fall season for real: soil prep, seedlings, drip lines and frost cover in one morning.

About this event

Learn what actually grows well in Central Florida from October through February, then plant it yourself. The morning starts in the classroom with planting dates and soil prep, then moves to the teaching beds where everyone sets seedlings, runs drip line and fits a frost cover. Bring a soil sample in a zip bag if you want it tested on site.

What you'll do

  • Learn Central Florida fall planting dates from an extension agent
  • Space and plant broccoli, kale and lettuce seedlings in a raised bed
  • Set up drip irrigation and a frost row cover
  • Test your own soil sample at the pH bench
  • Leave with a seed packet and a fall planting calendar
