Dino Discovery Dig Day
A hands-on fossil morning at the Florida Museum — real paleontologists, dig trays and a fossil you can take home.
About this event
Future paleontologists get a sifting screen, a dig tray and a guided tour of the museum's Miocene fossils. Staff paleontologists walk families through what Florida looked like when mastodons and giant sharks ruled the state. All materials included, best for ages 4 and up.
What you'll do
- Brush sand off a real fossil cast
- Sort shark teeth with a paleontologist
- Compare a dugong skull to a modern manatee
- Ask the fossil prep lab your questions
- Stamp a fossil-rubbing print to take home
